GBP

Built for UK Pound statements specifically

UK banks run three main rails: Faster Payments for instant transfers, BACS for salary and direct debits, and CHAPS for high-value same-day payments. Each appears in your statement with its own descriptor. We keep all three labeled separately, so a Faster Payment never gets merged with a BACS salary credit — which matters when you build income proof or reconcile a payroll run.

Post-Brexit, GBP transfers to and from EU counterparties incur SWIFT fees instead of free SEPA transfers. These show up as separate fee lines that did not exist before 2021. We keep every fee line as written, so UK-EU businesses can categorize cross-border cost accurately instead of losing it inside the gross amount.

  • Faster Payments, BACS, and CHAPS entries labeled separately, not merged
  • Post-Brexit SWIFT fee lines kept as written for cross-border cost tracking
  • Direct Debit and standing order descriptors preserved for recurring-payment review
  • 20% VAT lines kept as written for HMRC reconciliation

Every UK bank, one workflow

We've tested GBP PDFs from HSBC UK, Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest, and Santander UK. Each has its own layout — Barclays groups by transaction type, Lloyds runs a wide narrative field, NatWest prints the balance after every row. We handle each format without you telling us which bank issued the file.

UK banks also offer Open Banking data by FCA mandate, but most accountants and individuals still work from the PDF statement — for old accounts, closed accounts, or banks where API access is restricted. We extract the PDF directly, so you are never blocked by a missing API connection.

Who uses this

UK sole traders preparing HMRC self-assessment, contractors building income proof for a mortgage, accountants reconciling VAT for limited companies, and GCC residents with UK accounts tracking GBP rental or investment income against their home-country records.

Output is Excel-ready: dates in the leftmost column, description in Arabic and English columns side by side, debit, credit, and balance as numeric columns in GBP. Drop it straight into your self-assessment working file or your VAT return sheet.

Free-floating since 1992 (Black Wednesday). GBP/USD ('Cable') trades ~1.20–1.30 range in 2023–2024. Post-Brexit, GBP is no longer part of SEPA, but UK banks maintain SWIFT and Faster Payments for international transactions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the output for HMRC self-assessment?

Yes. The Excel file gives you raw dated rows with original descriptors, which is what self-assessment and VAT reconciliation usually require. Spot-check totals against your PDF before submitting — we match row by row on standard statements but unusual fee adjustments may need manual review.

Are Faster Payments and BACS kept separate?

Yes. Faster Payments, BACS, and CHAPS entries each keep their original descriptor and appear as separate rows, not merged into a single transfer line.

Do post-Brexit SWIFT fees show up?

Yes. Cross-border SWIFT fee lines that appeared after 2021 are kept as written, so UK-EU businesses can categorize the cost separately instead of losing it inside the gross amount.

Do I need Open Banking access?

No. We extract the PDF statement directly. That works for old accounts, closed accounts, and banks where API access is restricted — you are never blocked by a missing API connection.
